Artist Statement
I take photographs because it gives me comfort. The experience itself provides a moment of peace for me in a chaotic world. I thrive on the slow, but wonderful process of loading film into my camera, setting up the tripod and staring into the viewfinder, choosing that perfect shot and hearing the sound of the shutter.
I seek out structured spaces to shoot. I like clean lines and symmetry. I use only ambient lighting to expose my film because I believe that it is the condition in which each space is intended to be viewed by the visitor. In my photographs, I want to provide the viewer with the opportunity to experience these spaces as I do and to appreciate their quiet beauty.
